Are older patients desensitized to fracture pain?

Being a noob on this sub I often see radiologists talk about older patients with old bay healed fractures, or with bad fractures only reporting minor discomfort. This sparked a research idea but I cannot find any published confirmation anywhere of this actually being a thing - older patients’ reports of pain not matching severity of fractures. Have I misunderstood something?
