Looking to become a Radiation Therapist but The curriculum is making me anxious about going through with the degree.

I have my diploma and I did take an anatomy class in HS but never took physics or pre calc. Life got in the way but my gpa in HS averaged 2.7/2.8. Did any of you struggle with the curriculum? How did you over come it? What was the hardest part in pursuit of your degree? submitted by /u/Sr_Atrevete [link] [comments] source https://www.reddit.com/r/Radiology/comments/l252eg/looking_to_become_a_radiation_therapist_but_the/

Choosing Residency

How much impact does residency have on your career? I am currently making my rank list and am trying to figure out how much weight to give to program reputation vs location. Both are important for my decision, but how would going to a SLIGHTLY less reputable (but still top 5 in my region) institution in a location that I would be much happier and enjoy more affect my future career? I want to be a private practice radiologist. submitted by /u/hunnnnnnnnnnni [link] [comments] source https://www.reddit.com/r/Radiology/comments/l20rm2/choosing_residency/

Tampa radiologic tech

Hey, I was wondering if there was anyone who started their career in the Tampa/Orlando area. If so, would you mind saying how much you started at? I’m currently taking pre requisites for the radiography program, and out of curiosity, I’m wondering how much this area pays usually. I’ve done my research but I’d like to know true numbers. Thanks! submitted by /u/heremya [link] [comments] source https://www.reddit.com/r/Radiology/comments/l1sqom/tampa_radiologic_tech/

How to become competitive for radiology?

Hello, I was recently accepted into medschool (md) and I will start in August. I had the opportunity of shadowing an IR and I really liked the field. I know that this may change but, as of right now, I would really like to go into radiology, specifically Diagnostic (I didnt really like the surgery part of IR). I was wondering if you guys had any advice on what I need to do when I start medschool to be competitive for a radiology residency? What is something that i can start my first year thatll help me be competitive? I know joining the radiology interest group would be helpful, but what else should I be doing to be competitive? What would you want to hear from a hopeful Rad tech?

In one month I have my interview to get into my local Rad tech program. My previous grades are good, they have proof of my various personal training certifications and phlebotomy certificate, so they know I’m knowledgable about anatomy. I did well on all the testing they gave me. So I think I might really have a shot. I want to become a Rad tech because I’m finally ready to build a career outside of restaurants, I’ve always wanted to work in healthcare and I want an active job that will keep me out of a desk and keep my brain active. I have a good eye for detail and a well-exercised work ethic. I want to eventually specialize in mammograms because I want to work with women. How do I best word all of that? What else could I add to sound like the best possible candidate? This schooling would really turn my life around, I just want to make sure I’m putting my best foot forward in the interview. submitted by /u/BeebMommy [link] [comments] source https://www.reddit.com/r/Rad...
