How well did you transfer from student to tech position? I start my first job soon and I’m NERVOUS.

So I just graduated, passed my registry, and applied for my state license (YAY!!!!!!). Now I start my new job as a registered xray tech within the next week. I’m so excited but also so nervous. The place I’m working is a past clinical site, so everyone knows me. I felt I was a good student (not the best but not horrible) and I definitely feel I still have room for lots of improvement. I just hope the techs don’t expect the world from me because I’m sure I’m going to make mistakes and will still need some guidance in the beginning. Is this normal? Should I be more confident? I’m more nervous for the OR setting (my weakest spot) and learning the whole hospital for when I do mobile runs. I just fear failure and I don’t want them to regret hiring me. I feel like I can be a good tech but I sometimes take a little longer than others to really get my groove. I also haven’t taken a single xray in months because of COVID so I’ll definitely need time to get back in the swing of things. subm...

Radiologists, why should I do rads? (MS4 extremely torn)

Torn between anesth/rads. Scoured SDN/reddit/premed101. But extremely lost. Here are my concerns: Want to have a lifestyle - I have far more hobbies that I want to pursue (ie travel) and don't want to be dedicating my whole life to medicine. You can ask me right now, "what do you want from life" and my instant thought is: travel the whole world. I know that some rads places do take call, and I am okay with once in a while. I know that some rads require 247 reads, and you will work some days harder, and that's ALSO ok. Finances - Don't tear me apart for this, but $ is important. Carib school debt + aging parents who don't have a retirement fund since they made bad financial decisions and have invested in me, in hopes I'll take care of them + desire to have a decent lifestyle... PCP isn't going to cut it unless you put mad hours/do fellowship (which usually require mad hours), which contradicts #1 Interest in the field itself. Thanks to COVID, won...

Is becoming a medical radiologic technologist a good career path to consider?

Are there going to be jobs after graduating? I'm in Canada and I finished my health care aide course a few years back and had troubles finding work. Is this a good career path to pursue? submitted by /u/ConquerYourGoals [link] [comments] source https://www.reddit.com/r/Radiology/comments/gn6027/is_becoming_a_medical_radiologic_technologist_a/

Keeping up with ARRT but not practicing

I've been out of the country for the past 4 years and haven't been working in the MRI field since. I got my license and arrt in 2009. I've been keeping up with the CEU's every 2 years for arrt. I just want to make sure this is all I need to update, just in case I come back to the states to work at the hospital again? also another question: an arrt/asrt approved CE course (24 category A credit) mentioned something about "8 hours would apply, other 16 hours must be US specific" What does this mean? submitted by /u/AznUserGirl2020 [link] [comments] source https://www.reddit.com/r/Radiology/comments/gn21h7/keeping_up_with_arrt_but_not_practicing/

Tips for getting into radiology

So I’m about to turn 21 and I’ve had a really tough time deciding what I wanted to pursue in life. I have a family friend that’s a radiologist and he was telling me all about it. I’ve always been interested in the medical field as well as machine operating which I was doing in more fo an industrial setting. I guess I’m just scared that I’m not smart enough to do it. Can someone just give maybe a quick run down of what kind of education it takes to get into radiology. I know there’s some good programs in the city I live (Seattle). submitted by /u/Lexlesss [link] [comments] source https://www.reddit.com/r/Radiology/comments/gn0ha3/tips_for_getting_into_radiology/
