So I just graduated, passed my registry, and applied for my state license (YAY!!!!!!). Now I start my new job as a registered xray tech within the next week. I’m so excited but also so nervous. The place I’m working is a past clinical site, so everyone knows me. I felt I was a good student (not the best but not horrible) and I definitely feel I still have room for lots of improvement. I just hope the techs don’t expect the world from me because I’m sure I’m going to make mistakes and will still need some guidance in the beginning. Is this normal? Should I be more confident? I’m more nervous for the OR setting (my weakest spot) and learning the whole hospital for when I do mobile runs. I just fear failure and I don’t want them to regret hiring me. I feel like I can be a good tech but I sometimes take a little longer than others to really get my groove. I also haven’t taken a single xray in months because of COVID so I’ll definitely need time to get back in the swing of things.
