DR vs IR vs Both

Rising M4 here! I’m planning on applying IR in the fall, but am confused by the changes that have come with the new integrated programs. I have tried finding information elsewhere, but it’s just difficult because they are so new.

Is it typical to apply to both IR and DR? What about applying to both at the same program? The match rate in 2018 for IR was only 58%, so I feel like even the best applicant would be obligated to apply for both.

Also, is a surgery year required for IR or is an IM prelim year acceptable? I understand there is value in still being in the OR for that year, but based on my surgery and IM clerkships I feel like I actually might learn more doing IM for a year.

Do rad techs/sonographers deal with vomit often?

Hi there! I’m currently considering going to school to be a rad tech or sonographer but I’m struggling to find out if you guys deal with vomit a lot. I am emetophobic (phobia of vomit) and, while I think I’d like these jobs a lot, it does worry me to think about having to deal with it often. Thank you for your help! submitted by /u/pootscoot1 [link] [comments] source https://www.reddit.com/r/Radiology/comments/p5y0aa/do_rad_techssonographers_deal_with_vomit_often/
