Is this NI-RADS II or III?
Are focal and intense uptake synonymous? I don't quite understand the cut offs between mild, moderate, and intense, and where the word "focal" comes in, if that's indicative of intensity. Also where does SUVMax 4.1 fall in there? The pre-treatment buccal carcinoma had an SUVmax of 6.4 on the scan prior to surgical removal.
Patient had T2N0 squamous cell carcinoma of the buccal mucosa treated with surgery and radiation, this is first CT and PET 3 months after completion of radiation. The patient had CT a few days prior to the PET hence "recent CT"
HEAD AND NECK: Focus of FDG uptake (SUVmax 4.1) in the area of prior left buccal lesion and corresponding with the ill-defined nodular soft tissue seen on recent CT neck. Postsurgical changes of left marginal mandibulectomy, left buccal lesion resection and reconstruction with a left free flap.
IMPRESSION:
- Focus of residual FDG uptake in the area of prior left buccal lesion, corresponding with underlying ill-defined nodular soft tissue may represent posttreatment changes versus residual disease.
What is the risk of recurrence here based on this assessment?
