Radiology Elective Ideas?

Hi everyone,

I'm a current final year med student in the UK, and I've been wanting to go into radiology for a good while. I have my elective coming up in March, for which my plans to go to Brazil, Australia, the USA and Italy for a radiology placement, and my plans to stay in the UK/my home institution for a radiology placement have all flopped because of COVID.

I am certain that radiology is the career for me. I have already done a student choice module in it, I have co-founded the radiology society at my uni, I have some research experience in the field (and some coding experience), so I think I have a reasonably strong case for 'commitment to field' when it comes to applying for jobs a couple of years down the line.

However, I am desperate to end up with a radiology placement for my elective, either in-person or virtual, either clinical or research-based, anywhere in the world this coming April.

As a last ditch attempt to figure out if there are any other avenues I can take to organise ANYTHING radiology related, I decided to post here. If anyone has any ideas, I'd love to hear them!

Thanks to everyone in advance, and I look forward to hopefully being your colleague in the next few years.

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, so mods, feel free to remove this if it's not.

I got into the Rad Tech program!

I just want to share with you that I finally got into the program at our local community college and i’m starting this summer. For context, I’m already 30yo with a prior BS degree and decided on a career change. During the pandemic until this semester, I took my time to take all the pre-reqs and GEs required while working. I also volunteered at a hospital for over a year. It was optional due to COVID, but I still did it to get the brownie points. I finally applied last March 2023 and received good news last Friday. The program is based on a pointing system, so I think having good grades really mattered. It was my first time applying and the only program I applied to. I didn’t know it was possible to get in on your first try because of all of the stories I’ve been reading, so don’t lose hope because it’s possible! Wishing everyone who’s applying this year good luck. You can do this! If you have questions, I will do my best to answer them 😊 also if you have tips on how to survive this ...

Do rad techs/sonographers deal with vomit often?

Hi there! I’m currently considering going to school to be a rad tech or sonographer but I’m struggling to find out if you guys deal with vomit a lot. I am emetophobic (phobia of vomit) and, while I think I’d like these jobs a lot, it does worry me to think about having to deal with it often. Thank you for your help! submitted by /u/pootscoot1 [link] [comments] source https://www.reddit.com/r/Radiology/comments/p5y0aa/do_rad_techssonographers_deal_with_vomit_often/

Onetonline salary search change?

Did this change? I am having a hard time finding the same lists I saw 2 months ago. https://www.onetonline.org/link/summary/29-2034.00#AdditionalInformation https://www.onetonline.org/link/localwages/29-2034.00?st=OR&p=hourly I used to be able to see wage by area and sort it by state and see the differences per state and per city in every state. I can't seem to find this same list anymore. I can see a bell curve but I can't sort by state or wage or anything.
