"He has difficulty with pain in his foot and ankle which is, for the most part, mild."

Mods - Please note that I already have a diagnosis so I'm posting these images for educational purposes.

Edit: Link to imaging is here

I've always had pretty atrocious foot pain and bilateral hip dysplasia, but the hip orthos I saw never took the foot pain seriously and only focused on the hips.

A few years back, I was in PT recovering from hip surgery (periacetabular + femoral osteotomies) when a PT said, "You know, I think there might be more problems with your feet than the doctors have noticed."

To make a long story short, this led to me seeing a number of DPMs and spending countless hours doing research on PubMed. I ended up correctly diagnosing myself with E76. 219 aka MPS IVA which was confirmed via bloodwork and my mutations were discovered via genetic sequencing. I was previously misdiagnosed with MED and then SEDc. For frame of reference, Danny DeVito and Robert Reich both have MED and the actor Warwick Davis has SEDc.

Some other info: I actually have attenuated MPS IVA which make up ~20% of all cases and the disorder affects maybe ~4,000 people globally. I'm 157cm tall and my problems are namely musculoskeletal while those with the severe phenotype are (generally) 129cm and shorter with a whole host of other problems that I'm fortunate to not have to worry about.

The solution to my foot/ankle pain are a pair of AFOs which have cut my pain down to just about zero. The DPMs and foot/ankle orthos said that they couldn't even perform a pantalar arthrodesis because I don't have enough bone material to work with. It's my understanding that this procedure is generally regarded as the last-ditch effort.

Do rad techs/sonographers deal with vomit often?

Hi there! I’m currently considering going to school to be a rad tech or sonographer but I’m struggling to find out if you guys deal with vomit a lot. I am emetophobic (phobia of vomit) and, while I think I’d like these jobs a lot, it does worry me to think about having to deal with it often. Thank you for your help! submitted by /u/pootscoot1 [link] [comments] source https://www.reddit.com/r/Radiology/comments/p5y0aa/do_rad_techssonographers_deal_with_vomit_often/

I got into the Rad Tech program!

I just want to share with you that I finally got into the program at our local community college and i’m starting this summer. For context, I’m already 30yo with a prior BS degree and decided on a career change. During the pandemic until this semester, I took my time to take all the pre-reqs and GEs required while working. I also volunteered at a hospital for over a year. It was optional due to COVID, but I still did it to get the brownie points. I finally applied last March 2023 and received good news last Friday. The program is based on a pointing system, so I think having good grades really mattered. It was my first time applying and the only program I applied to. I didn’t know it was possible to get in on your first try because of all of the stories I’ve been reading, so don’t lose hope because it’s possible! Wishing everyone who’s applying this year good luck. You can do this! If you have questions, I will do my best to answer them 😊 also if you have tips on how to survive this ...
