CT right after X-ray

Hi! So, I’ll be done with my program in about 3 weeks (yay!) and ct will begin the week after. I originally thought it would be best to do it back to back, but after getting my butt kicked in clinicals, studying for boards, I’m getting second thoughts on ct and just want to take a break after. I know it’s smarter to just keep going as it is only 3 more additional months, but I guess I’m just having some difficulties finding motivation. Am I wrong for wanting to take a break? submitted by /u/mauithe23rd [link] [comments] source https://www.reddit.com/r/Radiology/comments/133whfm/ct_right_after_xray/

LMRT vs RT(R)

are there any LMRT's in here that could tell me the process on getting licensed while I finish school. I am in my 4th semester of x-ray school but I need to start working as my life is going through some major changes. What are you allowed to shoot as an LMRT? can you do all xray but none of the other exams like fluoro or OR? I'm trying to weigh all of my options but I am having a hard time finding all the information out there. SVC syndrome?

Full disclosure I’m a scribe in the ER with an interest in radiology, but my experience is very limited so if I say anything that makes no sense that’s why. I saw a patient today with a PA who had right upper extremity swelling and right neck swelling with blanching skin when pressed. I had seen SVC in another patient in the past and thought it could be that. I looked at the CT and there was a pleural effusion and mass. It also looked like there was a blockage in the SVC, but the radiology report didn’t say anything about it. After showing the PA and asking him if he thought it looked like SVC, he seemed convinced. We called the radiologist, who said the blockage of the SVC was just an artifact. To me it seems odd to pass it off as an artifact because the symptoms all seem to be explained by it. The ER docs looked at it and decided to treat it like SVC because it seemed to match the clinical presentation. I’ve attached the CT. I’d love to hear some input. Please be nice, I’m new t

How Do I Get my Master's Abroad

Hello, I have got my Bachelor's degree as a Radiology Technologist from an Iraqi university, and I'm currently employed by one of the local hospitals here in my city working as a Medical Imaging Professional , doing X-Rays, CTs, and MRIs. A Radionuclide Cisternogram done at Mayo Clinic proved my spontaneous CSF leak after brain and full spine MRIs with & without contrast, CTs, and Digital Subtraction Myelograms failed to do so

It took a total of 3 years to prove my cerebrospinal fluid leak existed. Test after test failed to diagnose me, despite my being bedridden for the last 8 months and having classic leak symptoms. Due to normal imaging, I was brushed off by doctors and suffered for years until I reached csf leak specialists at Mayo Clinic. The only thing ever found on imaging was from a brain MRI with contrast done last month which just showed "mild engorgement of the venous sinuses" and gave me a 2 on the BERN scale, indicating a "low probability" of having a csf leak. The crystal clear images from my MRIs and DSMs couldn't do what nuclear medicine could!! The doctors were even able to determine the leak was most likely due a venous fistula because of the radiotracer in my kidneys, which you can barely see. The radiologists knew what to look for though! I'm so thankful! I go back to Mayo in 2 weeks to use their Photon Counting CT scanner in the hopes of imaging the f

C-Arm tips

Hey all, I’m back in the OR after a long hiatus due to my schedule. I’m looking for tips and advice on gaining confidence with using the C-Arm frequently. I know that as I do OR continuously it will become more fluid and natural but, right now, I feel uncertain about it (I had 2 days of training and was thrown in full time). I’m trying my hardest and do my best to show confidence because floundering can be the kiss of death with certain docs. I do communicate with the providers when needed & an building a good rapport. San Diego Mesa college program

I am looking into a career as an x-ray tech and looking at programs in my area. Still confused as to what accreditation is needed in CA. Saw this program at SDMC , which says it is accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) and prepares graduates to apply for certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT Certification) and the state of California (CRT and Fluoroscopy). However, when I search for programs in Southern California, the SDMC program is not on any lists so I’m suspicious. Is it possible it’s new and not yet known? Perhaps it doesn’t meet standards? Why is 3d Rendering of CT not more widely used

I have recently been speaking to several hernia surgeons about using MDCT scans and rendering them in 3d for preoperative planning. I would think it would be great for abdominal wall reconstruction. They stated they did not know what MDCT is and they said they didn't use 3d. It is been available for more than 15 years and is not significantly more expensive. I know it is more commonly used by cardiac/vascular surgeons as well as orthopedics and neurosurgeons routinely. How common is it for unicornuate uterus to be missed on US & CT scans?

Asking for myself, mainly out of curiosity. I’ve had many pelvic ultrasounds over the years and a couple of pelvic CT scans. Unicornuate morphology was never noted. I even had an IUD for a few years and the placement checks never noted anything unusual. My most recent ultrasound results say that I have a unicornuate uterus with a rudimentary horn containing endometrium. I have an appointment with OBGYN but it’s a ways out and the confusion is killing me. I do have both ovaries. I’m not looking for medical advice, more curious about the imaging and why something like that would be hidden or hard to see.
