Requesting sincere guidance for pursuing a career in radiology in Germany.

Hi

I am a radiologist in India having acquired all my medical education in India. I have had almost 5 years of experience after my specialty training (residency). I am interested in pursuing my career further in Germany. I have read and thoroughly understood all the language and exam requirements that I need to complete before I can get a job (assistenzarzt/specialist training). I have no issue with repeating all 5-6 years of training as an assistenzarzt again or with the salary. However I had certain doubts regarding the current state of affairs with regards to non EU doctors. It will be of great help if you can help me with it.

1: Germany opened its doors liberally for foreign doctors from 2012 owing to shortage of doctors. In this earlier phase, the requirements were not much strict and entry was relatively easier. However as years passed by the requirements were made stricter and rightly so to ensure strict language and quality compliance. I know of people who did not have to even give the Fachsprachprufung in 2012-13. Gradually however these became mandatory and now the requirements for nonEU doctors include medical German B2/C1 level, Fachsprachprufung (medical German language test), Kenntnisprüfung (medical knowledge test) to get an approbation (permanent medical license). Only after getting approbation, nonEU doctor can get a assistenzarzt job (equivalent to specialist trainee/resident) to complete required training and become a Facharzt. Initially the passing rates in these exams were also higher and now even these have become very tough and uncertain. I won’t like to know the reasons but I am definitely interested in knowing how much exactly tough is it now to pass these exams for a a nonEU doctor? I could not find statistics available for this question. Hence please share some knowledge on this based on statistics or your ground experience

2: Germany has many states with unique laws and rules for each state according to their suitability. Which state has the least bureaucratic hassle when it comes to processing documents? Which state should a nonEU doctor prefer for FSP?

3: How competitive is it to get a job in a radiology department for a nonEU doctor? I have no issue with countryside or rural areas. As radiology is competitive everywhere in the world, are there many vacancies for assistenzarzt positions in radiology too? I just want to know the real odds of a nonEU doctor getting a assistenzarzt position in radiology anywhere decent in Germany.

PS: I am fully aware of the strict language requirement and prepared to tackle it. But what troubles me is the lack of information regarding the difficulty of passing/uncertainty for nonEU doctors with regards to the exams. I know preparation and hard work is the key but it is always better to gauge the situation fully and accurately before embarking on such a life changing decision.

Kindly help.

Onetonline salary search change?

Did this change? I am having a hard time finding the same lists I saw 2 months ago. https://www.onetonline.org/link/summary/29-2034.00#AdditionalInformation https://www.onetonline.org/link/localwages/29-2034.00?st=OR&p=hourly I used to be able to see wage by area and sort it by state and see the differences per state and per city in every state. I can't seem to find this same list anymore. I can see a bell curve but I can't sort by state or wage or anything. Question regarding ultrasound

Hello radiologists, I have a quick question regarding ultrasounds of the scrotum. (Not asking for medical advice just wondering about something). I’ve done an ultrasound of the scrotum and the radiologist only took pictures of the right side of the testicle and then the left side but not in between so my question is, do ultrasounds show all “angles” of a testicle or does the device need to be held at various areas to show a full testicle? Because if only one side of the testicle is seen then wouldn’t the other side be as important in diagnosing something?
