Chest and KUB tips

On lateral chest films do the posterior ribs always have to be superimposed? How do you figure out which way to rotate when correcting?

KUB, do you always try to include the diaphragm in the picture?

Is there a good way to tell if I got the top of the left kidney on the kub? The kidneys are difficult to see a lot of the times.
