A few years ago I had a MRI of my small intestine. I was required to drink a solution prior. Whilst in the machine, they injected additional contrast--not sure what.
About 30 minutes after, my vision started to blur and soon I could barely see a thing. Thankfully my GI Dr's office was next door and my husband walked me over. The nurses surmised that the blindness was as a result of them injecting the contrast too quickly (I am severely clausterphobic and was having a panic attack). My eyesight remained blurred for a couple hours before it was completely restored.
Fast forward to this week, I was refused the option of a mammogram with contrast because they were fearful that the iodine injection may result in the safe effect.
Interested to know if anyone has seen this before and whether experiencing it once means there is a higher chance that it will occur again.
