PGY-1 match vs. PGY-2 match?

Can someone explain to me what the difference is? I am a DO student. I'm thinking about applying DR but I know it will be an uphill battle for DOs. What is the diff between applying for PGY-2, vs. PGY-1? According to the 2021 match data, it looks to be better chances going for the PGY-2 spot. What does this mean when I apply? Thank you!
