Markers? I'm a new tech and I was wondering the company I work for doesn't like us to use markers but rather we use digital annotations, it is a mobile portable company and most of the patients are bedridden so I do understand it's can be difficult at times but are we putting our license at risk?

Also, I have a coworker that's been a tech for 20 years and takes the absolute sloppiest images, I can t believe he is getting away with it, who is ultimately monitoring our quality besides our employer and radiologists? submitted by /u/wasssupfoo [link] [comments] source https://www.reddit.com/r/Radiology/comments/10pvta5/markers_im_a_new_tech_and_i_was_wondering_the/

Diskogenic bone marrow changes

Can someone please provide me an interpretation of what the image report states as diskogenic bone marrow changes in a patient who has pelvic floor and pudendal nerve dysfunction? 59M with 20yo trauma to low back from weightlifting. The bulk of his symptoms are focused on pelvic floor, pudendal (S2-S5) and not so much foot and knee flexion (L4-S1). “Bony Structures: Mild to moderate degenerative changes at L5-S1 with fatty diskogenic bone marrow changes and mild to moderate bilateral neural foraminal narrowing.” Thanks in advance submitted by /u/trav15t [link] [comments] source https://www.reddit.com/r/Radiology/comments/10ppo0g/diskogenic_bone_marrow_changes/

CT question

The question : An enhanced CT scan of an adult head shows an irregular shaped low-density mass with extensive vasgoenic edema. Which type of tumor is this likely to be? A. MENINGIOMA B. GLIOBLASTOMA C. METS D. ASTROCYTOMA so I've narrowed it down to for sure not being A (no vasogenic edema with meningiomas), or C (bc contrast will be homogenous enhancment). Glioblastomas, according to my manual, has vasogenic edema, is multi lobulated with areas of central necrosis. With contrast, it displays heterogenous, irregular ring enhancement of lesion. Astrocytomas have little to no enhancement. However, high grade forms appear heterogenous, enhance with contrast and have vasogenic edema and mass effect. Am I reading too much into it ? Wanting to Travel?

Hello! I am a recent radiolography graduate and I passed my ARRT registry on Monday! 🥳 I want to ask you all: when would be an appropriate time to start traveling or start talking to recruiters. My reservations lie in that I am nervous that as a new grad I am not going to be able to jump in to a new facility and bring as much to the table to the table. Saline IV Flush before MRI w/ contrast side effects

Is it normal to have a reaction to a saline injection into the arm, before getting a MRI? This isn’t the first time I’ve experience this. About 5-10 minutes after the injection, my whole body feels flushed and weak. I start to sweat and then get chills. It subsides in time, but quite alarming. Note: the contrast came much later with no issues & I don’t think it was a heparin flush.. How accurate is MRI quiz tests for registery scoring?

Had a fundoplication about 8 weeks ago. Same Gerd symptoms started again a week ago. Had a hiatal hernia which was fixed. Appointment with surgeon after 2 weeks. What would expect for an MRI (and CT) skill quiz during an interview?

I’ve never had a quiz during an interview, but I have one tomorrow for MRI for a training position that includes some CT. The interviewer is very friendly and said it won’t be too advanced, but I’m a bit nervous now! She knows I have MRI experience as an imaging aid where I’d position patients with the coils and cannulate + set up contrast injector CT anatomy/physics I’m fairly good at, but would you think she’s going to expect me to point out stuff like the common peroneal nerve on a Knee MRI (which I just googled)? I can differentiate between T1, T2, fat sat and contrast scans but that’s about it 🙃 I can’t learn MRI overnight, she knows I’m not trained in MRI and I’ll be honest about my skillset level but if there’s something I can brush up on tonight to be more confident in my interview tomorrow that would be reassuring… submitted by /u/HazelnutIcedCof [link] [comments] source https://www.reddit.com/r/Radiology/comments/10gp3ch/what_would_expect_for_an_mri_and_ct_ski

My son had an X-ray today and something happened that I think is a bit odd.

My son needed an x-ray on his arm today. The radiographer invited me into the x-ray room in the hospital, which I found unusual because they normally insist on parents staying outside while the x-ray is taken. Long story short the radiographer took two X-rays while I was standing next to my son and not behind the glass screen. I was expecting him to ask me to get behind the screen at some point. I've only had two X-rays in my entire life so I assume there wasn't any real danger to me, at the same time I kind of feel that maybe I shouldn't have been where I was when the x-rays were taken. I do apologise if this is a really silly question and I don't want to offend anyone, but I just feel that something not quite right happened. submitted by /u/TheSameButBetter [link] [comments] source https://www.reddit.com/r/Radiology/comments/10gen9h/my_son_had_an_xray_today_and_something_happened/

How much MA work falls under our scope of practice as an x-ray tech at an urgent care?

I'm working a travel contract at a pretty slow urgent care for x-rays so they seem to be expecting me to do a lot more medical assistant duties like strep and COVID swabs and doing general vitals on patients and that sort of thing. I don't have a problem getting vitals and even running some swabs that the MA has already taken if I'm not busy but I don't want to be expected to run out and get vitals and do MA duties on every other patient that comes in. I'm confident enough to tell them I don't feel comfortable doing some of these things but I'm just wondering if I legally am not supposed to be doing intrusive things like swabs in the throat if I'm not licensed as an MA? submitted by /u/Suitable-Peanut [link] [comments] source https://www.reddit.com/r/Radiology/comments/10g9zq0/how_much_ma_work_falls_under_our_scope_of/
