Patient who was below 35 has already undergone chemotherapy, so the doctors had trouble putting the granula in. There was one blue granula already on patient's right hand but they couldn't flush it due to swelling.
They brought in the ultrasound machine. Pt's vein was very small but they were able to finally put the granula in although it took a very long time.
Doctor flushed some saline in and I noticed he did it pretty quickly and the pain was unbearable to the patient.
I wonder if that's harmful to the patient esp when they had a blue granula and hard vein as a result of chemo.
Can I flush slowly or do I have to do it quickly no matter the granula size?
They did not proceed with the scan, they took out the granula and did ultrasound instead.
