I’ve heard theories that using a lead gown for a pregnant patient will increase their dose as the x-rays will rebound of the lead and scatter back inwards. Is there any research proving this? I know shielding isn’t recommended in general due to risk of artefact, but as a psychological comfort is it in fact doing more damage?
