Q: What landmarks do you use to determine the axial plane in a routine CT Brain?
I (-ologist) was always taught to use the cribriform plate as the axial plane. It's what I'm used to, and it's what I do when I'm making my own MPRs from the thins.
My current hospital has started to deviate from this over the last 12 months or so, with some of the rads using the orbital roof instead. Others seem to pick an arbitrary plane that's sort of in that range, but doesn't seem to correspond to any bony landmarks I can find.
I'm just curious what the Radiology hive mind has to say about it.
