Hi all.
I am looking for some input on a research project revolving MRI scans of the deceased.
I currently working of a phd-project with the main goal of improving lung scans of the deceased. As a pilot project we would like to make an MRI of the lungs, but we need some contrasting agent to inflate the lungs with.
Studies exist were 129Xenon and 3He have been used with great success to visualize diffusion capacities. We would like to do the same on the deceased, but the problem is these gasses are expensive and scarce.
Since we are investigating deceased subjects, we have the benefit of not having to think of the health of the subjects (only the personel), so does any of you have a suggestion for a contrasting agent thats more inexpensive and available that could be applied?
We have developed methods for ventilating the subjects.
Any input is welcome!
