Protection against (prior or after) a nuclear bone scan

Hello,

I am not in the medical field, but am an Engineer with a bit of a passion for medicine.

I am going for a bone scan in April to help find the cause of back pain/inflammation and would like to know what to do before or afterwards to protect from the radiation. I have had one of these scans almost 10 years ago and since I am getting another, it's time to get smart about it.

I understand there is a correlation between potassium iodide and radiation. Would it be wise to take to take these ahead of time? Does it have a negative effect on the imaging? Better taken after the imaging? Is there something else I should be doing in conjunction with this, in place of this? I do not believe there is nothing that can be done to mitigate radiation damage and hope someone here can suggest some things

AI for radiology - A survey

Hello folks! We are a group of students from Karolinska Institutet and Stockholm University (Sweden). We are conducting a short survey (it should not take more than 10 minutes of your time) to evaluate an Artificial Intelligence framework for evaluating medical imaging and, in particular, the effect that explainability can have on clinicians' attitudes toward it. We welcome anyone who interacts with medical imaging to take our survey, so please, feel free to do it even if you are still a student or an intern! If you know someone who works in the field, please, pass them the survey. It would help us greatly. https://bit.ly/RTEX_survey Thanks in advance to all of you! submitted by /u/francozzz [link] [comments] source https://www.reddit.com/r/Radiology/comments/r2ratp/ai_for_radiology_a_survey/
